11/20/09 Office hours for the week of November 30 to December 4 are as follows. Monday (11/30) 3-4 pm (DA), Tuesday (12/1) 4-6 pm (FS, Zoo) and 8-11 pm (BG, Zoo), Wednesday (12/2) 3-4 pm (DA), 7-10 pm (RL and JW, Zoo) and 10-11 pm (FS, Zoo). There will also be a review session (time: TBD) on Thursday (12/3) for the exam on Friday (12/4).
11/18/09 The second exam will be in class on Friday, December 4. It will cover material since the first exam (that is, starting with the topic of circuits.) There is no final exam in this class.
11/18/09 Homework #8, due Wednesday December 2 at 11:59 pm, is available from [Assignments]. There is no lateness penalty for this homework, but it will NOT be accepted after 11:59 pm on Wednesday December 9. There are no autograde test cases for this homework.

10/31/09 John Wood recommends the following site on the Busy Beaver problem The Busy Beaver. The Busy Beaver probem is the attempt to find a Turing machine with 2 symbols and k states that writes as many 1's (or runs for as many steps) as possible on an initially blank tape and halts; k = 5 is open. 10/18/09 To provide a little more flexibility in your scheduling of work, I've decided on a policy of "forgiving" (restoring) up to 5 days of lateness penalties on homeworks when we calculate your final scores.
