Eric Propper is the president of CIBC Private Wealth Management, with more than 35 years of industry experience. In this role, he serves as the head of CIBC Private Wealth’s Chicago office, and works closely with the firm’s team executives throughout the U.S. Additionally, he serves on the CIBC Private Wealth Operating Committee, the Asset Allocation and Multi-Manager Investment Committees and the CIBC U.S. Operating Committee. He is a director of CIBC Delaware Trust Company and CIBC Private Wealth Advisors. Eric also serves as a senior relationship manager, providing comprehensive portfolio and wealth management for high net worth individuals, families, foundations and endowments.He joined the firm in 1998 from J. Bush & Co., and previously spent 10 years with Shearson Lehman Brothers and E.F. Hutton & Co.
Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hobart College and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation and is a member of the Stamford Society of Security Analysts.
Eric has served as a trustee for the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. He has also been featured in The Financial Times, CFA Institute Magazine, Private Asset Management, and Family Wealth Report, and was listed in Barron’s Top Advisor Rankings by State in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Presentation: Leadership: Why it Matters This semester, we have discussed cognitive models of decision making that allow a robot or computer to think like a person, with goals, resources, and interpersonal relationships. These agent models can be extended to organizations which similarly have goals, resources, and relationships. A leader is a decision maker for the organizational agent. Today's talk is the capstone topic for the course.
