I was born and raised in New York City, where I attended public schools and majored in Computer Science at Columbia College. From 2008 to 2022 I worked at Google, where I was the Chief Information Officer and site lead for Google New York; I also founded and led two businesses, Google Domains and Google Registry. I spent the 14 years prior to that working at Morgan Stanley, where I rose to the level of Managing Director, and, among other things, led teams responsible for its Internet offerings and the proprietary libraries and middleware that powered the business.I’ve spent all my life working in computing. That has taken me to the senior leadership level at Morgan Stanley and at Google. I’ve also been the first employee at a startup, and now I work for a venture capital firm that invests in tech startups. I’ve learned a lot about what makes for a successful career in computing, and about the decisions you can make along the way to have the kind of career you want. Computing is a vast field, and there are many career paths for someone with a CS degree, and even more choices along the way. I’d like to spend our time together talking about what I’ve learned, to help you think about your career, and the choices ahead for you.
