FOEX indexes show some upward moves on pulp, but paper prices slide BRUSSELS, Nov. 20, 2001 - FOEX of Finland pushed up its index price for northern bleached softwood kraft pulp once again today. NBSK moved up by around $1/tonne, or less than 1%, from last week. .................................................... October downtime big in containerboard and newsprint; pulp drops SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 19, 2001 - Producers of containerboard and newsprint moved proactively to curb supplies in October while downtime in market pulp tapered off after a big production slowdown the prior month. .................................................... Chile's CMPC resolves folding boxboard trade dispute with Brazil BRUSSELS, Nov. 20, 2001 - CMPC has reached an agreement with the Brazilian government over accusations that the Chilean producer sold folding boxboard in the Brazilian market at levels below its domestic market prices. .................................................... UTIPULP stocks and consumption edge up again in October BRUSSELS, Nov. 19, 2001 - The latest UTIPULP consumer inventory figures show an increase of 2.6 percent in October from the previous month, rising to some 1.144 million tonnes. But stocks were 13 percent lower than inventory levels in October last year. .................................................... NorskeCanada to idle paper machines at B.C. mills during Q1 VANCOUVER, Nov. 19, 2001 - NorskeCanada announced today plans for additional curtailment for the first quarter of 2002 at its B.C. paper operations, as weak economic conditions have reduced demand for the company's products. ....................................................
