STAMFORD, Conn., Nov. 20, 2001 (press release) -- As part of an
on-going review of its forestland holdings, Westvaco Corporation today
announced plans to divest an additional 170,000 acres over the next
two to three years. With this additional acreage, the company has
identified a total of 450,000 acres for divestiture since 1999. Of
that total, the company had sold about 120,000 acres through the end
of October 2001 and realized net proceeds of $66 million.
