Monthly lease and plant fuel use is estimated from monthly marketed production by assuming that the preceding annual percentage remains constant for the next twelve months. b/ Pipeline fuel use is collected only on an annual basis. Monthly pipeline fuel data are estimated from monthly total consumption (excluding pipeline fuel) by assuming that the preceding annual percentage remains constant for the next twelve months. c/ Deliveries to Commercial consumers for 1995-1999 include vehicle fuel deliveries, which totaled, in billion cubic feet, 2.7 in 1995, 2.9 in 1996, 4.4 in 1997, 5.1 in 1998, and 5.7 in 1999. d/ Year-to-date volume represents months for which volume information is available in the current year. R/ = Revised Data. E/ = Estimated Data. RE/ = Revised Estimated Data. NA = Not Available. Notes: Data for 1995 through 1999 are final. All other data are preliminary unless otherwise indicated. Estimates for the most recent three months are derived from the Short-Term Integrated Forecasting System (STIFS). Geographic coverage is the 50 States and the District of Columbia. Totals may not equal sum of components because of independent rounding. Beginning in 1996, consumption of natural gas for agricultural use was classified as industrial use. In 1995 and earlier years, agricultural use was classified as commercial use. See Explanatory Note 5 for further explanation.
