Dear Eric,

Former Enron CEO Kenneth Lay is scheduled to appear before two separate Congressional committees next week. On Friday, we'll have a preview of Monday's testimony and the latest on the investigation itself from the Washington bureau. We'll also take a look at the impact the Enron situation is having on efforts in Congress to repeal or amend the Public Utility Holding Company Act.

We'll also have the latest on emissions policy in Congress on Friday. With the White House still waiting to release its own ideas on possible changes in U.S. emissions rules, some in Congress are trying to move their own legislation. President of Energy and Environmental Analysis Joel Bluestein will talk about where he thinks the debate stands right now. Bluestein will join us during the 2:00 p.m. ET newscast tomorrow.

South Texas College of Law Professor Bruce McGovern will talk about shareholder lawsuits against Williams from the Houston bureau on Friday. McGovern will also explain how these lawsuits compare to the lawsuits against Enron.

The Houston bureau will continue coverage of a threatened strike by oil workers. The workers' union says it will strike at midnight tonight if contract talks don't progress. We'll be following this story that's affecting thousands of workers involved in Texas.

More earnings from the Houston bureau on Friday - Varco International CFO Joe Winkler is stopping by the bureau to talk about his company's earnings report during the 3:00 p.m. ET newscast.

Friday from the West Coast bureau, ENL's Kym McNicholas talks to Tuscarora Transmission Company Director of Marketing Greg Galbraith about the company's plans to expand its gas pipeline system to northern Nevada, just granted by the FERC this week. Galbraith will join us during the 3:00 p.m. ET newscast.

From New York during the 2:00 p.m. ET newscast, Merrill Lynch Director of Energy Research Michael Rothman is penciled in. He'll talk about what would happen to the oil markets if the U.S. were to pursue the expansion of a war on terrorism.
