Subject:	Business Assistance to the Membership


In order to keep members updated on possible avenues of financial
assistance, we have listed below the phone numbers and contact information
to both the NYS and NYC Economic Development Corporations.  Both NYS and NYC
are making funds available to small businesses in the form of Grants and
Bridge Loans with participating banks.

The requirements for a grant is as follows (must fulfill all points listed
below):
	1.	Must have had a business as of September 11, 2001 south of
Houston Street,
	2.	Employ 50 or fewer people,
	3.	Provide professional  or business services; or engage in
manufacturing, distribution or other non-retail business,
	4.	Submitted a complete application to the U.S. Small Business
Administration or other approved lender for disaster recovery.

To apply for a grant, call the EDC hotline at 866-227-0458.  To obtain an
application online visit www.newyorkbiz.com.  Or you may visit the walk-in
center at 110 Maiden Lane Monday ?Friday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.  In addition, you
can visit The New York State Economic Development Corporation at
www.empire.state.ny.us/.

*	Eligible Applicants: Businesses and non-for-profits that have
suffered economic or physical damage due to the WTC disaster.
*	Loan Amount: Up to $100,000 from banks; up to $50,000 from other
lenders.
*	Eligible Uses of Funds: Loans may be used for working capital, for
acquiring or improving real estate, machinery or equipment, or for physical
rehabilitation of business.
*	Terms: Lenders use more relaxed lending criteria and charge lower
interest and reduced or zero closing fees.  Interest payments may also be
deferred.

Small Business Administration (SBA) Loans

The SBA offers disaster loan programs, and has representatives taking
business information and distributing applications at 110 Maiden Lane
