US FERC TO OK ORGANIZATION TO OVERSEE PACIFIC NW POWER GRID Federal regulators Wednesday approved a plan to create a new entity to independently administer competitive access to the Pacific Northwest's power grid, which is dominated by the federally owned Bonneville Power Administration's transmission system. SENATORS INTRODUCE BILL TO TEMPORARILY CAP ELECTRIC RATES IN WESTERN STATES West Coast senators formally introduced legislation Tuesday to temporarily cap wholesale electric rates and expressed hope that their proposal to ease the huge run-up in energy prices might clear the committee and make it to a vote on the Senate floor. CALIFORNIA APPROVES TWO 40-MW POWER PLANTS; ON GRID BY AUGUST 1 The California Energy Commission gave final approval to the construction of two 40-megawatt power plants in San Bernardino County, and the plants are expected to be fully operational no later than August 1. ENERGY PLANT PROPOSED FOR SOUTH FULTON An Oklahoma company wants to build an electric generating plant near Union City in south Fulton. Williams, an electrical company that produces and sells energy and related services, wants to build the plant on a 230-acre site on Peters Road off Ga. 138, just up the road from the Christian City community.
