While Toyota continues to develop hybrid vehicles, Watanabe believes fuel cell vehicle technology has high hurdles to overcome. In February the automaker unveiled a prototype fuel cell vehicle, the FCHV-3, which also includes a secondary nickel-metal hydride battery.
