The Scoop

Except for a very brief period shortly after the open, the Nasdaq Composite spent the session in negative territory.  Both the Dow and the S&P 500 failed to accomplish this minor feat and underperformed throughout the session.  Pressuring the market today were cautious comments, downgrades and negative news from a number stocks including: Microsoft (MSFT -2%)-- Salomon Smith Barney downgraded to Neutral based on valuation, also suggested EPS estimates may be too aggressive; TriQuint (TQNT -11.9%)-- lowered guidance, Lehman makes cautious comments; Analog Devices (ADI -0.9%)-- issued warning last night, Goldman Sachs suggested ADI and the sector to give back some between now...
